The new FIFA title will contain Icon cards as per usual. EA Sports have unveiled some Icons and teased others, but can we actually expect to see in that department? Let's run over what we know so far about FIFA 21 Icons!
Icons are the most popular items in FIFA Ultimate Team. They link to every other player and are therefore the ideal addition to every FUT team. There will be ten such cards in FIFA 21. Let's see which ones have been revealed as of today!
Confirmed FIFA 21 Icons
- Nation: France
- Position: ST
The Frenchman won the French Ligue 1 with Olympique Marseille before moving on to England where he won a few titles more: one with Leeds United and four in five seasons with Manchester United. His flair and unmatched style turned him into a cult icon for Red Devils fans and it was only fitting that he lead the way as the first announced FIFA 21 Icon.
- Nation: Czech Republic
- Position: GK
The helmeted hero of Chelsea makes a return to FIFA a year after retiring. A towering goalkeeper, Čech was part of some incredible defenses while at Stamford Bridge. Attesting to his legend status at the Bridge is the fact that even a move to bitter rivals Arsenal did not result in any ill coming from the Blues' fans.
- Nation: Spain
- Position: CM
There aren't many players who can rival Xavi's trophy cabinet. A winner on club and internatonal level, the central midfielder was part of a magical era at Barcelona while setting records with Spain by winning three major tournaments in a row. The silky passer will be back in the midfield in the form of an Icon card for FIFA 21. Make tiki-taka great again!
Probable FIFA 21 Icons
- Nation: Cameroon
- Position: ST
Xavi won't be the only member of that iconic Barca team to appear in FIFA 21. The most successful African footballer of all time Samuel Eto'o is scheduled for a return too. he's not been confirmed yet, but can be seen in the video celebrating Inter Milan's official partnership with FIFA 21. That's solid enough evidence for us.
- Nation: Brazil
- Position: RB
The same logic can be applied for powerful Brazilian full back Maicon. Together with Eto'o, Maicon celebrated Inter's greatest success in the modern era - the 2009/10 Champions League title. Trent Alexander-Arnold could use some competition out right and a Maicon Icon card can fit that bill perfectly.
That's all we can confirm and confidently guess at this time. If we are correct about all five, we still have five more to go. If and when we've got some idea on who these five might be, we're coming back with the info.
