Valorant has been out for over a year now and players had plenty of time to hone their skills. However, some didn't. Are you one of them? Here are five reasons why you might be stuck at your rank.

So you've been playing Valorant and you used to climb ranks, but now you're stuck, and you don't know why. Worry not, we're here to help you out and find out what plagues your gameplay. Here are some reasons why you might suck at Valorant.

5. Focusing Too Much on Utility

Sure, utility is important, but it's not going to kill your enemies. After all, the point of utility in Valorant is complementary, and it only opens a door for proper gunplay. Right Riot? Placing the right smoke to make space for your team can make all the difference, but you can't expect your team to carry you all the time. Different agents have different roles in Valorant and that's a fact. Then again, all agents have access to the same weapons and can be just as deadly as the next one.

Astra is a great example of an agent that has so much utility, but she has to risk getting flanked while in her Astral Form.

4. Afraid To Take Fights

This one is probably a result of the previous one, but there's also a psychological moment, especially in ranked. You have the temptation to go for a high-risk high reward play, and it's often a difficult decision to make. Be disciplined about your strategy, and don't be afraid to take duels. If you die, that's fine, just don't let it be in vain and give some valuable info to your teammates.

3. Your Aim Is Whack

This is a big one, and you can easily change it with practice. Valorant may have tons of abilities and utility, but it's still a shooter. Ahem.

With that out of the way, it's usually better to rely on your aim, instead of hoping your Cluster Grenade will take out half the team. Here are some ideas to improve your aim:

  • Use training mode as often as you can
  • Get comfortable with more weapons
  • Place your aim where the enemy's head is going to be

It's pretty obvious when you think about it, and we guarantee that it'll get you good results.

2. Your Settings Put You at a Disadvantage

Now, this one is a bit of a stretch, but it might as well be a reason why you get nuked. If you're playing on an older PC or you just have some performance issues, it'll probably be wise to tone down your settings. Valorant usually runs well on a potato, but the more fps you get and the smoother it is, the higher your chance of success.

In this section, we can also mention some of the equipment you're using. You definitely don't need the most expensive gaming mouse to aim with, but don't use one meant for an office computer either. When it comes to monitors, the higher the refresh rate, the better.

1. You Are Toxic/You’re Playing With Toxic People

Our number one reason why you might be hard stuck in Valorant has nothing to do with your actual skill or settings. Valorant is a team game and working together with your squad is the best way towards victory. If you start the game and in a few minutes you already have more than five enemies, chances are the game is already lost. Then again, it might not be you. No matter who's the source of toxicity, try to eliminate it. Take a deep breath and remember – it's just a game. People make mistakes and fail all the time, there's no need to rub it in their faces.
