A Valve employee revealed on the Dota 2 Reddit that the much anticipated Battle Pass for 2020 will be dropping in early next week. Just like many expected.

The Dota 2 Battle Pass for 2020 has been delayed by a couple of weeks. The reason as you might guess is the coronavirus. The fate of The International 2020 remains unknown to this day, as Valve announced the event will either happen later this year or get postponed to 2021. While this may have shattered the plans of many pro players and teams, at least they’re in the same boat.

Each year The Dota 2 International accumulates a huge prize pool unmatched by any other title for a single event. In 2019 it was standing at $34,330,068. The amount was generated mainly through 2019 Battle Pass, as 25% of all sales went directly into the prize pool. This meant each Battle Pass, level bundle, most treasures and so on. Valve’s contribution to the prize was $1,600,000 much like the previous five years. 2020 won’t be any different in that regard but the uncertainty of the date for the big event is making things tricky. Early in May Valve mentioned that the Battle Pass will be release a few weeks later than usual. The usual here being 4-10 May, so it made perfect sense to expect it by the end of the month or in early June.

Now a Valve employee revealed on the Dota 2 Reddit that the pass will be dropping early next week:

FROM THE GHASTLY EYRIE I CAN SEE TO THE ENDS OF THE WORLD, AND FROM THIS VANTAGE POINT I DECLARE WITH UTTER CERTAINTY THAT THE BATTLEPASS IS COMING EARLY NEXT WEEK!

For anyone unfamiliar, it's a direct quote from Skywrath Mage's prediction line. The post also included a Lina picture which is meme art by Dota 2 standards. It was definitely inspired by the Math Lady/Confused Woman meme, but the Dota 2 development team took it a bit further than that.

As you can probably tell, Valve are good at memes and the Dota 2 scene is quite rich with them. One thing has us worried and that's Valve Time. The company is notorious for rarely delivering on time, so check out the Valve Time table and have a laugh or a cry.
