Dota 2 was officially released in 2013 but don’t let that fool you. The game’s pro scene started a couple years earlier when the MOBA genre was still technically in its beta. The most prestigious Dota 2 event, The International, was held for the first time back in August 2011. It eventually grew into the tournament with the biggest prize pool in esports. This year, it already broke the record and it’s currently near the $40 million mark. Sadly, we didn’t have the big event this year as a result of the global pandemic and the travel restrictions. Have no fear though as it’ll eventually return in August 2021 with no change to the location – Stockholm, Sweden. After all it only makes sense that the 10th anniversary of the event returns to Europe where it all started.
A lot of time has passed since the first International. Teams were created and then disbanded, many new players have joined the game, while others left the title for good. Many of them continue to support the game as casters, analysts or by simply streaming it for thousands of viewers. Today, we’ll take a look at the best Dota 2 players of all time so expect to see some familiar faces.
It’s never easy doing such lists, since it can all be quite subjective. Note that the players on this list won’t be placed in a particular order as there are still quite a lot of differences between them. Some are much younger, while others are retired and no longer compete professionally. What we’ll be taking into account will be their achievements and popularity within the Dota 2 community. So... without further ado, let’s get into it!
