Respawn have officially announced Battle Armor as the next limited-time mode in Apex Legends. It’ll be split in periods and the further the event progresses the stronger the armor will get.

Every other game you’d drop into an Apex Legends without being able to find a weapon or armor. As a result, someone else will eliminate you in the next few minutes. This makes the whole ordeal feel like a complete waste of time where you had no chance to fight back. You’ve probably thought to yourself : Well wouldn’t it be nice if everyone drops with a basic shield and a pistol?

It seems Respawn Entertainment are on the same wave with the latest limited-time mode (LTM). The developers have announced the Battle Armor LTM which will even the odds at the start of each match.

According to the description on the official page:

Here’s how it’ll play out: during the event rotation only one armor type will be available, and players will drop into the match with it already equipped. Players will also drop with a P2020. All armor will be removed from the loot pool, but shield cells and batteries, as well as all the other sweet, sweet loot, will still be available (just not armor).

It’s a really interesting take on things. The event will kick off tomorrow, April 28, and will supposedly end 14 days later right before the start of the next season (Season 5 will commence on May 12). Every couple of days the type of armor available will upgrade starting with the basic white one all the way up to purple. The last few days will feature EVO shields, making everything a bit more skill-based as accuracy will be the most important factor. Anyone who finishes in the top 5 of each match will receive double the usual level experience, so the top performers will be rewarded accordingly. With no shields available anywhere else on the map, the first few days will definitely be a hunting ground for snipers and other heavy-hitting weapons. As a result of the event the start of Season 5 will be delayed by a week. It was initially planned for May 5 when the ranked split ends, but now players will have seven extra days to grind out their battle pass.

With the Battle Armor LTM Apex Legends comes a step closer to some of its rivals like CoD: Warzone where you select your gear before dropping. Players in the Activision shooter have expressed their desire to have some Apex elements in Warzone and it seems the two titles will be actively exchanging ideas. Looting is a big part of Apex so we doubt that Respawn will want to completely overlap with their competitors in terms of loadout. The LTM is a nice test to see how the community will react.

In the meantime, check out some of the teasers for Season 5 or the latest patch notes from the last event. We might have some new ones coming up with the Battle Armor one. Stay tuned for more Apex Legends news.
