Counter Strike: Global Offensive has a history of trading and selling skins. Some of them sell for a few measly bucks, while others can make you weep at the sight of their price. What is your favourite skin? Is it included in our list? Are you an avid skin collector or seller?
The most expensive skin ever sold was the Souvenir AWP Dragon Lore in 2018 after Cloud 9, a seasoned esports organization, took home a fabled win at the Boston Major. This skin had a sticker from one of the players, Tyler “Skadoodle” Latham - who was named MVP of the tournament - on it, which made the price skyrocket. In the end it was sold for over 61,000$
These skins retain their value through various factors, such as how ‘worn’ they are and if they are rare drops. Oftentimes, at specific events, drops for certain weapons are enabled, but there are only slight chances of getting these weapons, which makes them so expensive.
Counter Strike was originally released as a mod of Valve’s popular game Half Life but got so popular that the developer bought the rights and created it’s own game. Since the inception of this storied FPS, multiple versions of the game have been released, such as Counter Strike 1.6 and Global Offensive.
It is one of the most popular esports with major events happening all around the world and being streamed on Twitch. Some of the biggest events are IEM Katowice, Intel Extreme Masters as well as ESL Cologne. These events are put on by ESL, one of the biggest esports organizers in the world. Other notable events are the Blast Pro Tour which also hold events worldwide throughout the year.
