Manchester United's exceptional talent and World champion with France Paul Pogba announced yesterday on Twitter that he would be joining Verdansk FC, which caused a brief shock moment for Man Utd fans.
Yesterday afternoon, professional footballer Paul Pogba sent the following tweet, which caused quite a stir in the football world:
If you have ever played Call of Duty: Warzone, you will of course understand the post immediately. But many football fans seem to have never heard of Call of Duty and since the picture in the post looks very similar to how the clubs actually use the pictures when changing players and Pogba even wears a nice Verdansk jersey, many fans actually thought that the player would change clubs.
The reactions to Twitter ranged from surprise to shock, to anger. In fact, not many Man Utd fans understood the PR stunt of Pogba and Activision and felt, to put it mildly, taken for a ride. Here you can see some selected reactions:
If you know Call of Duty, you know of course that Verdansk is the name of the map on which you play in Warzone. There is a large stadium on the map that was closed since launch, but finally opened at the start of Season 5. Verdansk FC or, as you can read on the jersey, the Verdansk Sparks are just a fictional football club in the world of Call of Duty: Warzone. Paul Pogba will stay with Manchester United for the time being. Fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
Paul Pogba Plays Call of Duty: Warzone
Pogba, like many other professional athletes, is a passionate Call of Duty: Warzone player himself, so he agreed to join forces with Activision to perform this PR stunt to promote Call of Duty's recently launched Season 5.
He even shared his favorite loadout:
- Primary weapon: Glitch Bruen MK9
- Secondary weapon: Open Season Kar98k
- Deadly equipment: C4
- Tactical equipment: Heartbeat sensor
- Perk 1: E.O.D.
- Perk 2: Overkill
- Perk 2: Tracker
No big surprise, as both the Bruen and Kar98k are currently extremely powerful weapons in Warzone. Paul Pogba knows what's up.
