The Overwatch Anniversary events are becoming an important part of the Overwatch experience for players and casual gamers alike. As always, there's been some speculation as to what we can expect, and with the date slowly approaching, here's our take on what to expect from the Overwatch Anniversary event in 2020.

The date has not officially been confirmed for the Overwatch anniversary, however, the dates do follow trends for May, with events typically taking place between May 20 to June 15, so keep an eye on the official Blizzard Twitter accounts! Let's get into what you can expect, shall we?

Let's discuss cosmetics. Overwatch is known for its wide range of skins for their Overwatch characters, but none are more important than the Overwatch anniversary event skins. It's these skins that show to people to let them know that you've been here for the long ride, since the beginning, and the anniversary skins are a reflection of that.

New emotes, sprays and voice lines

You can't have a cake without candles, right? Well, this event is no stranger to having plenty of candles, so you can definitely expect a wide range of new emotes, sprays, and voice lines to follow those shiny anniversary skins in-game.

Previous Overwatch skins from older events will be available for purchase should you feel the need to pick up anything you've missed out on. These events are the following:

  • Lunar New Year in January
  • Overwatch Archives in March
  • Summer Games in August
  • Halloween Terror in October
  • Winter Wonderland in December

Blizzard usually brings back some fan-favorites in addition to some new modes for people to play! With the experimental card still ongoing for the live servers, we wouldn't be surprised if Overwatch devs use this to create something crazy for fans to play.
