Do I Need the Antlion ModMic Wireless?
You know: there are dozens of gaming headsets on the market. You can even get a cheap pair for 20 bucks in your nearest DIY market – but they are just not good. Oh, and for your console, you will need another one.
What if we told you, that you can get a single mic for every purpose? One that sounds brilliant? One that suits your headphone lying around in your living room? This is where the Antlion ModMic Wireless comes into play.
Because we all know that gaming headsets may sound great, but microphone quality trails miles behind. Not to mention they are overpriced in many cases.

Turn Your Headphones Into a Premium Headset
Honestly? I have been using many headsets in my 30 years as a gamer, even some for 300 bucks and more. By this time, I am using premium headphones paired with a table microphone because the sound quality is superior.
The Antlion ModMic Wireless is offering all those qualities with the difference, that I can attach the wireless microphone with a magnet to every headphone (and even to my table or screen, if I want to). Oh, and I can switch between PC and PlayStation 4 within a few seconds.
€130 ($120) is not cheap, don’t get me wrong. But if you compare it to the best gaming headsets out there, it is looking pretty fair. Really good headphones like my Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro plus the Antlion ModMic Wireless have almost the same price as a good gaming headset.
Installation is easy. Attach the USB receiver to your PC or console, turn the mic on and you are ready to go. Hit the button once to mute the microphone, hold the button for three seconds to turn it off. That’s it.
The battery lasts for 12 hours before you need to attach the USB cable that comes with the mic. Not superior, but battery life is decent.

You Will Love That Sound
For this price, you can expect a convincing sound quality, right? Yes, you can. This is where the Antlion ModMic Wireless shines and leaves almost every competitor behind.
There is a switch on the microphone arm offering you two modes: The omnidirectional mode features a wider frequency response range, perfect for recording and streaming, while the uni-directional mode provides a crisp, clear, signal which blocks out unwanted background noise.
Both sound great, but I prefer the omnidirectional mode because of its crystal clear sound quality, offering a more voluminous and detailed voice. But noise cancellation works great, too. Check out how the mic sounds in comparison to other headsets and microphones, I have tested.
Antlion ModMic Wireless: Our Verdict
The Antlion ModMic Wireless is no steal, but the sound quality is outstanding. I love the versatility of the microphone, that attaches to almost every surface by using a magnet. You get the same convincing sound quality on every system, which is great.
Well… almost, because you can not use the microphone on your Xbox. At least not the wireless mic, but there is a cheaper USB version for all those Microsoft fans. If you are already using a good pair of headphones, the Antlion ModMic Wireless turns them into an excellent premium headset for gaming and office use.
