The grand finals of OGA Dota PIT Season 3 China between PSG.LGD and Vici Gaming came to an end, and it took five full games to determine a winner.
The OGA Dota PIT Season 3: China kicked off on September 29 and ended today. It offered $90,000 in prize money and had a total of 8 participating teams:
- Vici Gaming
- Team Aster
- Royal Never Give Up
- Team MagMa
- Sparking Arrow Gaming
The eight teams were split into two groups of four. PSG.LGD and Vici Gaming were the leaders in Group A, while Aster and EHOME had the upper hand in Group B. Sparking Arrow Gaming and Invictus Gaming didn’t make it to the playoffs as both teams failed to win a single series.
Diving right into the playoffs LGD knocked Vici Gaming down into the lower bracket, then defeated Aster and secured a spot in the grand finals. Vici Gaming’s run wasn’t done yet as they went through RNG, EHOME, and Aster to make it to the finals. In the final best of five series PSG.LGD and Vici Gaming clashed again.
Just like last time, LGD were the clear favorites. The team completely changed its roster in the middle of September but showed some amazing results in the China Dota 2 Pro Cup Season 1 where they took first place. Vici Gaming wasn’t that far behind as they took third place in the same tournament. VG also had some notable roster changes as Zhou "Yang" Haiyang and Zhang "Eurus" Chengjun both left to join 4AM.
Many expected PSG.LGD to stomp the competition with a quick 3-0, but that turned out to be quite far away from the truth. Each of the maps was unpredictable, with insane gold swings and comebacks. The score came to a 2-2, and it was up until the final match to determine the champion. LGD had the initial lead and the better draft in theory, but they failed to utilize their strengths. Vici Gaming survived the laning stage and then got a clear advantage causing LGD a devastating defeat in the final game.
