NBA 2K21 will bring back the popular MyTEAM mode. This time the creators have come up with some exciting new features, which they have now presented in an extensive blog entry.
Basketball fans will be able to enjoy the new NBA 2K21 next week - or have already gotten a first impression of the game with its demo. Back for another round in 2K21: The popular MyTEAM mode, which Erick Boenisch, Executive Producer at Visual Concepts, has now presented in his blog.
NBA 2K21 MyTEAM Mode
The best news right off the bat: If you play NBA 2K21 on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, you can transfer all your progress from My Team mode over to the next-gen version for PS5 and Xbox Series X.
This includes all content such as Domination or Triple Threat, but also all VC credits, MyTEAM points and tokens. You can even switch between current and next-gen versions at will and still have access to all content and unlocks.
Seasons and Seasonal Content
The MyTEAM mode of NBA 2K21 is constantly evolving. Seasons are brand new in NBA 2K21, with new content awaiting you every season in the form of in-game rewards. Season 1, for example, features Pink Diamond Steph Curry with an overall rating of 96.
The duration of a season is not rigidly fixed, but basically a season lasts for about six weeks. Each season has daily, weekly, and season-based agendas for XP, which you can use to move up in rank and unlock new rewards.

MyTEAM Limited is a brand-new game mode in NBA 2K21. This mode is only available on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Let’s start with the basics. MyTeam Limited is an online 5v5 multiplayer mode where you will compete against fellow MyTeam players who, like you, are chasing Championship Rings (more on that in a minute). The twist that I alluded to above is where the ‘Limited’ in MyTeam Limited comes into play. We will be introducing new lineup restrictions every single weekend to change up the meta of the game. For example, one weekend we may limit you to players 23 years old and younger. Another weekend, we may say that all players in your lineup need to be Ruby or lower.
Every weekend there is a new championship ring to win. If you win a MyTEAM Limited game, you will receive a prize and are confronted with a choice: Do you want to keep the prize or exchange it for one of two other unknown prizes? The surprise prizes may be better or worse than the prize originally offered (it may even include the championship ring of the week in question).
MyTEAM Unlimited 2.0
MyTEAM Unlimited returns in a revised form. This year you can expect 9 leagues, which you have to get through before you reach the top.
Each league in My TEAM Unlimited 2.0 consists of up to 12 games. To advance to the next league, you must win an increasing number of games in the current league. For example, in the first league, you only have to win 3 of your 12 games to advance. If you succeed, you immediately move up to the next league.
The Exchange is another mode that will be new in NBA 2K21. According, to Erick Boenisch, this is what to expect:
New to NBA 2K21, The Exchange allows you to turn in/exchange your cards for some great prizes! Every Season in MyTEAM this year will feature new Exchanges for you to collect and complete to earn exclusive cards only available here. Yes, some of the cards you get from here will be truly elite. The quality of the reward is going to dictate how much effort is required to complete the Exchange. For example, an Exchange may require you to trade in a Western Conference PG rated 90 or higher and an Eastern Conference PG rated 90 or higher to earn a higher rated player.
In addition, the NBA 2K21 MyTEAM Mode offers significantly more options in terms of customization and evolution cards, promotions, the IDOLS Series Collection and much more. You can read all new features in detail in the NBA 2K21 blog.
