There is a new Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic in the works, according to the latest rumor circulating the franchise. Based on reports from a Star Wars podcast, fans are rejoicing at the news, but what's behind it?
Whilst most of you will be intimately familiar with what I am about to say, I am going to say it anyway because it feels REALLY good to be reminded... KOTOR is not only a beautiful port city in Montenegro, but also the abbreviation for Knights of the Old Republic. The two-part series (released in 2003 and 2005) was an absolutely fabulous RPG that came out during the heyday of the legendary BioWare Studios.
Fans of the cult classic have been looking for a new installment for decades, and now they seem to have gotten a glimmer of light. According to a new rumor, a new Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game is in development!
The new rumor comes from Star Wars insiders Bespin Bulletin and Nate Najda – also known as Shinobi602. In the latest episode of their Star Wars Podcast, they talked about info on a new Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game that is said to be in development.
Perhaps the most interesting part: it's not coming from EA! So, it's not from BioWare either. After the announcement, this seems to be the next blow against EA's Star Wars monopoly, which as we all know by now, went rather less than well.

People are still confused over the KOTOR thing.— Bespin Bulletin (@BespinBulletin) January 24, 2021
What I said was I heard from some sources that KOTOR is happening, but not with EA. That's it. That's the scoop. Anything else I said on the pod is pure speculation.https://t.co/mVr4RvFhhX

Bespin Bulletin and Shinobi602 have not been able to reveal much more information yet. But in the podcast, which you can listen to for yourself above, they strongly hinted that it's coming from a studio which will surprise a lot of people...
So! Is it a smaller, more unknown studio? Or maybe someone like Nintendo, who have had nothing to do with Star Wars at all? At the moment, we can only speculate, and the game will certainly be waiting at least until 2022. In the meantime, we will of course keep you up to date.
