Hogwarts Legacy was supposed to be out in 2021, but the release date now changed to 2022. Here’s everything we know so far.
Hogwarts Legacy is the RPG that every Harry Potter fan has wanted since they were kids. A game in which you're the wizard, where you can play Quidditch and attend classes with your favorite professors while exploring the world that is Hogwarts. A lot of people were looking forward to playing Harry Potter Legacy in 2021, but now it has unfortunately been pushed to next year.
Hogwarts Legacy's Delay: Portkey's Statement
Here's the official statement from Portkey Games, released via Twitter:
"We would like to thank fans from around the world on the tremendous reaction to the announcement of Hogwarts Legacy from our Portkey Games label. Creating the best possible experience for all of the Wizarding World and gaming fans is paramount to us so we are giving the game the time it needs. Hogwarts Legacy will be released in 2022.”
While we are obviously bummed out about this, we’re at the same time very grateful for the developers to have taken this step.
We all know by now how hard releasing a game too early can backfire when it’s not ready yet (ahem, Cyberpunk, ahem).
If they need more time to make this the best Harry Potter game possible, then we’ll gladly accept that.
If you want to read more from me - including Harry Potter stuff, because I'm a proud Slytherin - then be sure to follow me on Twitter as well.
