The European Masters tournament brings the best regional teams in Europe in the spotlight. Join us as we look at which region in Europe is the strongest and who the future LEC stars may be!
With the playoffs finished, the LEC teams go on vacation and cede the spotlight to the next tier: the regional leagues. The European Masters tournament brings the top teams from Europe’s 12 regional circuits for a one-month clash culminating in a grand final on May 2th. With the play-in round already concluded, the main event of the tournament started on April 14th and the 16 best teams of the event are ready to duke it out. The top two seeds of each group will proceed to the playoffs.
Since its creation as a successor to the then-EU LCS challenger series, the EU Masters tournament has served as a showcase of the best talent on the European servers. Many current LEC stars like Emil "Larssen" Larsson and Javier "Elyoya" Prades Batalla made their international debut in previous seasons of this event. The 2020 Summer champions - AGO Rogue - will be defending the EU Masters title currently resides with the Polish Ultraliga's AGO Rogue, who will be defending it.
BT Excel took their first win of the tournament against Cream Real Betis. XL AD Carry Matthew "Deadly" Smith lived to his name, dominating the mid-game teamfights and making the difference for his team. LFL champions Karmine Corps, meanwhile, defeated Schalke 04 Evolution in a very one-sided game and remains remain undefeated at the top of the group.
Mousesports and UCAM fought back and forth in a contested game. Slowly, however, UCAM got a map advantage and eventually a pick allowed them to get the elder dragon and Baron and end the game. Macko, meanwhile, remain winless after a clean loss to Illuminar Gaming. The Ultraliga team started strong and accelerated their lead throughout the match.
Mkers took their second win in a row with a smart game against K1CK, controlling the tempo and keeping away from fights where the Polish Team's area-damage composition could shine. The last game of the day was a masterclass by Tim "Keduii" Willers's Tristana, The BIG AD Carry punished Anorthosis' mistakes to get monstrously fed, demolishing teamfights and ensuring the Prime League champion finished the week with a 3-0 record.

Italy’s Mkers found their first win against Anorthosis Famagusta in the opening game. Despite the Cypriot team’s active start, Mkers were able to get their AD carry Frederik "Guubi" Mortensen fed and he carried them in teamfights on his Jinx. Meanwhile, K1CK got an early advantage against Berlin International Gaming, but slipped behind in the face of BIG's mid-game prowess and had to endure another defeat.
Misfits Premier once again exerted their signature early pressure against AGO ROGUE. While they fumbled a few times in the mid-game - such as letting Chres "Chres" Laursen steal Baron with an Oriana ball - they eventually dealt the reigning champions their first loss after a nail-biting backdoor by AD Carry Paweł "Woolite" Pruski.
G2 Arctic is now off to a 0-3 start after its loss to SuppUp. The Balkan champions' powerful early game hit some snags in the mid-game, but a clutch flank 30 minutes in resulted in the death of G2A's two carries and won them the game.
Illuminar faced a long battle against mousesports, who despite starting poorly and being outscaled fought tenaciously until the Ultraliga team won a key lategame teamfight. UCAM, meanwhile, had no such problem against Macko. They drafter for early pressure and executed on it, overwhelming the Italian team in the mid-game and ending a very one-sided game in just under 30 minutes.

Karmine Corps took another win, this time against BT Excel. After losing the two initial drakes, the LFL team dominated the objective game and used this to take the game. Schalke 04 Evolution and Cream Real Betis, meanwhile, played a marathon of a match, eventually decided by a pick on the S04 AD carry that let the Spanish team the chance at the enemy Nexus.
After yesterday’s quick loss, G2 Arctic put a better showing against AGO Rogue and the game was even for the first 25 minutes. However, a won skirmish gave the 2020 summer champions the Baron and they used it to break into the G2A base, ending the game shortly after it expired. Misfits Premier, meanwhile had another great early game in their match against SAIM SE SuppUp. However, the EBL champions held on and retaliated with several great teamfights in the face of an infernal soul, eventually taking the win with an ace at the elder drake.
The group, which had a day off on Wednesday, started with an underdog victory for Anorthosis Famagusta Esports, who executed a good early splitpush against K1CK before overpowering them in the late game. The final game of the day saw Prime League champion Berlin International Gaming defeat play-in participants Mkers. Despite a poor start for the German team, who let Artur "Zwyroo" Trojan’s Cassiopeia get several early kills, they proved able to kill the Mkers mid laner in the mid-game teamfights.

Schalke 04 Evolution left few chances to BT Excel to start the group with a win. Karmine Corps had a somewhat rockier start against Cream Real Betis after conceding the first blood, but their amazing objective control and better teamfights allowed them to triumph.
Italy's Macko Esports gave mousesports a hard time early on, bullying them with their damage and crowd control, but a clutch Baron and great map movement saw mouse dictate the pace and win. Meanwhile, Spanish champion UCAM took an early dragon soul and endured Illuminar Gaming's teamfighting composition, eventually winning a skirmish to secure the elder drake and take the enemy base.
Reigning EU Masters Champions AGO ROGUE nearly stumbled in their first game against SAIM SE SuppUp. The top seed from the Balkan region nearly took over the game, before a clutch fight allowed the Polish team to get the second Baron and mount a comeback in this hard-fought game. Misfits Premier, on the other hand, had no problems putting G2 Arctic down, snowballing hard and winning in just over 22 minutes.
