With Tellstones Riot Games launches a new board game. The game was already announced back in January and yesterday the first trailer of the newcomer from the world of League of Legends was finally released.
The League of Legends Worlds are just around the corner, but Riot Games doesn't even think about taking a break. The LoL developers have long since stopped depending solely on their MOBA success League of Legends, as Valorant, TFT, and Legends of Runeterra have been very well received by the community. Now Riot Games wants to further develop the tabletop games market with the new game Tellstones: King's Gambit after their last board game Mechs vs. Minions was released in 2016.
The trailer for Tellstones: King's Gambit features Demacian champions such as Lux and Fiora from League of Legends and a young Cithria and Laurent Chevalier from Legends of Runeterra, who play the Demacian version of a tabletop game played throughout Runeterra. This could mean that there may be more versions of Tellstones for different regions in the future. Tellstones is said to be playable by 2 or 4 players, so it has the same player size as Mechs vs. Minions, which was released in October 2016.
Riot Games has also published an official Tellstone website with more information, visual material. Players will have the opportunity to keep up to date with all the developments surrounding the upcoming tabletop title.
Tellstones is a bluff game where it will be crucial to play against your opponent and his way of thinking. A team member of Riot Games also mentioned that the latest board game is more strategic like chess and that the games play out very fast.
There is no release date yet, but as always, we will keep you updated as soon as there is something new.
