On August 26 the time has come and Call of the Mountain will finally come our. And who´s better to colonize such a mountain than dragons? Here comes the new mechanic Fury - better not make them angry!
They existed only poradically before Call of the Mountain and Targon. But then they were more known as ghostly creatures and a lot more... smaller. Now that Aurelion Sol is in play and he has his followers in tow, we are talking about real dragons. And how could it be otherwise: Not only the Star Forger, but also his dragon friends are in a bad mood. We present: The newest and thus fourth mechanism of the expansion - Fury!
The mechanic is simple. If you kill enemy units with a "Fury card", it gets +1/+1. This may not seem utopian at first, but it can become strong fastly! This mechanic will often allow you to make new trades and even fight three enemy units with some of your favorites before they are sent to dragon´s heaven. If your Fury card is still alive after so many trades, you will most likely have won the game anyway. Because then you'll have a unit with a lot of power and your opponent will probably not have a board anymore.
Defeating several enemies with one unit is the epitome of value and forces the opponent to invest additional resources, which could cost him the game later on. After all, this snowbally mechanic has the potential to decide a game early and hardly anyone wants to take that risk.
Most Dragon and Fury cards look well designed and complement each other very well in their mana curves and abilities. However, we very much doubt that they are played in combination with Aurelion Sol. After all, you need control spells to support him and his focus is clearly on the Celestial Cards.
We find Fury to be cool and well balanced. We are looking forward to the upcoming expansion and hope for many new decks and a new meta.
