What is PlayStation Now and is it even worth it? Here's everything you need to know about Sony's popular cloud gaming subscription service.

PS Now was originally released five years ago, but now that the PS5 is around the corner, it might be a good idea to take a closer look at this cool PlayStation service.

What is PlayStation Now Anyway?

In short, PS Now is a service where you can play hundreds of PlayStation 2-4 games instantly. Not only that, but you can also choose whether you do it on your PS4/PS5 (because yes, PS Now will be available on the PS5 as well) or on your PC.

And like any good subscription service, you will get new games every month. Even if you end up playing all 800+ games that exist so far, you can always start new ones - every month, there are new ones to add to your collection. In terms of genres, it's worth mentioning that there is a variety of them. Blockbuster hits, indie games, but also family-friendly adventures. Whatever you like, PS Now has it for sure.

You have the option to either stream or download these games. The biggest difference is that there is a limited number of games available for download – about 300. That's too few compared to streaming games, which are over 800. Even if the game you want to play is not available for download, you can still play it directly for as long as you want. You can save your game as usual and continue playing at a later date.

Let's get to the part that nobody likes to hear - PS Now is unfortunately not free.

PS Now Prices

In the overview above, you can see what options you have when you choose PS Now.

Which option is right for you depends on what you expect from this service?

If you want to try it first, you have the chance to do so for seven days for free. If you are still not sure after that, we would recommend you try the service for one month - 9.99. If you are completely convinced of the service and know that it is tailored to your needs, then the annual subscription for 59.99 is certainly the right thing for you - especially since you will only pay €4.99 per month. And for those who are still wondering, the option for 3 months at 24.99 (€8.33 per month) might be the best choice.

PS Now: Is it Worth it?

The answer to this question can be very subjective and really depends on what's important to you. If you are someone who likes to play a variety of games and is open to new things, then PS Now is the right thing for you. Paying annually or monthly for this service vs. paying for all the games the service offers you definitely makes PS Now a much cheaper option.

It should also be mentioned again that PS Now lets you play PlayStation games on your PC. For those of you who would like to play Bloodborne or Uncharted on the PC, PS Now gives you the chance to do so.

Christmas is just around the corner, so those of you who are currently reading this article and thinking of someone who might like PS Now should know that there are gift cards available from PS Now! A great Christmas present, right? "Merry Christmas, I give you 'Play until your fingers bleed'. Love, XY." - if that doesn't bring me some joy under the Christmas tree.

What do you think about PS Now? Is it a good investment? Let us know on Facebook or Twitter, we would love to hear your opinion!
