You want to know about the Far Cry 6 multiplayer and the game's release date? Maybe also about the Far Cry 6 setting, characters, how big the world is, what role Giancarlo Esposito play and if Vaas will be in it? Well, boo, all the answers and everything we know about Far Cry 6 is right here:

Let's get the release date out the way first. The game was postponed from February 2021 to sometime later. As of now, we've got two retailers giving us release dates: One is the Microsoft Store that has a placeholder release date of May 25. A Dutch retailer also lists an April 30 release date, but we believe that the May 25 release date seems much more likely for Far Cry 6.

Which platforms will Far Cry 6 be on? Far Cry 6 will release for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, Google Stadia and Amazon Luna.

Who is Dani Rojas the Main Character in Far Cry 6?

For once, Far Cry does not make you play as an outsider, stranded in a foreign location and basically committing genocide as the white savior. This time, you play Dani Rojas, who is actually a native of Yara. He is a rebel that joined the revolution and the guerilla movement against the antagonist dictator Antón Castillo.

Ah, yes, Antón Castillo, played by Giancarlo Esposito – everybody's favorite Breaking Bad character, don't at me. If you haven't seen the trailer in which he manages to teach his son Diego a life lesson while putting a live grenade in his hand then, well... here you go:

Am I the only one who would watch a whole movie about that? Like, one minute into it, the trousers had made way for comfy PJs, I had my popcorn ready and was all cuddled up in my blanket ready to lose myself in Giancarlo's somber voice...

I digress.

Ubisoft did state – and this is a quote – that the "triangle between Antón, Diego and Dani is absolutely crucial." This is great because one thing Far Cry has been lacking is a good protagonist. Ubisoft has acknowledged that they basically always had absolutely terrible protagonists. Not exactly in those words, but they are actually aware of needing to beef up the main character for once. That bodes well, because so far, Far Cry games have been all about the antagonists. A good main protagonist? Yes. Yes please.

How Big Will Far Cry 6 Be & Where Will Far Cry 6 Be Set?

Far Cry 6 will take place in Yara, which is a fictionalized version of Cuba. Unsurprisingly this is all set to a time of turbulence and political unrest.

As for how big the world is... According to Ubisoft it is the largest Far Cry to date. The game is more than just exotic landscapes and jungles. We get an actual capital city this time. What's more, it's a city in unrest, so... that's all new, right? Will we get varied scenery and atmospheres like in Red Dead Redemption 2? Well, it's a tall order, and we sure hope this doesn't turn into something generic. Of course Ubisoft has released a statement on the matter and, of course, the statement is generic:

"The verticality [in Far Cry 6] will be an absolute game change."

Yeah. Good corporate line there. You got that one from CDPR? Here's the rest of the quote:

"Being able to run across rooftops, use back alleys, fight against some of the toughest opponents in the game in this setting, I think is really unique and fresh."

Dying Light, anyone? Assassin's Creed influences in Far Cry? Sounds good to us. We're cautious with these developer statements, but an urban city within a Far Cry open world? Shut up and take my money... with caution.

Is Vaas in Far Cry 6?

Well... let's see: There is no official confirmation on this or anything, but: The setting checks out and voice actor Michael Madon tweeted this a while back:

“Thank you so much! Vaas is my spirit animal - having co-created that character is something that will always be dear to me. I still get recognized as Vaas, and I still feel the outpouring of love for that character - makes me very happy. Who knows... maybe I will reprise the role very soon? :p

If he was supposed to keep Far Cry 6 being a Vaas prequel a secret, he didn't do a good job of it. Also, Diego – the son of Antón Castillo – has the exact same scar as Vaas, so...

Still, we're sorry to say: Vaas was born in 1985, yet Diego has a smartphone in the trailer. Sorry, thirsty fanboys, the timeline doesn't check out.

What New Gameplay Features Are in Far Cry 6?

We don't know much, but we do know that Far Cry 6 will feature an Amigos system. Yeah, we know... a Latino setting, and they call it 'Amigos-system'. Cringe af. Still, everybody loved the doggies in Far Cry 5 and now they're back. Well... not they and also, the one dog will not be vicious, because... well... it's a sausage dog in a wheelchair called Chorizo.

Aside from that though, you will also be able to have other animals and Guerilla fighters as amigos (cringe) and it seems like a whole AI companion system is put in place. We're hyped for it. Our guess is that Ubisoft will take a lot of cues from their companion system in Watch Dogs Legion. As much as Watch Dogs Legion didn't live up to the hype, the playable characters and companions were the highlight. Since Far Cry has sort of become Ubisoft's flagship next to Assassin's Creed, we expect big things here.

Will Far Cry 6 Have Multiplayer & Co-op?

Yes. Far Cry 6 will have a two-player multiplayer mode. Is it gonna be a co-op mode? Well, what else would two-player multiplayer be? Yes, it's co-op. We don't know if you tackle the campaign in co-op or just random missions though. If this two-player mode somehow ends up being some dumb horde mode and survival crap, we riot. You in?

No word on any PvP multiplayer modes or custom maps or ranked play or anything of the sorts as of now.
