Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance has a shiny new gameplay trailer and an official release date! The spiritual successor to the Baldur's Gate series that was announced in late 2019 is very close to launch. We'll let you in on the details like release date, different versions of the game and of course - the trailer itself!
Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance fits within the Baldur's Gate universe, which is... the... Dungeons & Dragons universe. The publisher has basically decided to attach the more popular D&D name to the game, but the Dark Alliance part should ring a few bells for anyone familiar with the original Baldur's Gate series.
The latter had not received a new installment since 2004's Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II. Baldur's Gate III actually entered early access in October 2020, which makes the timeline a bit confusing.
If both Baldur's Gate III and Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance are released this year, then that could mean publishers Wizards of the Coast are splitting the products into two separate series. A theory backed by the drop of the "Dark Alliance" moniker for Baldur's Gate III.
Enough theory! Let's go for the facts!
Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance Release Date & Platforms
The game is launching sooner than you probably even hoped for. The worldwide launch date is June 22, 2021. Unlike the previous Dark Alliance games, this one is releasing on PC as well. The console versions can be upgraded, so you won't need to buy a separate version for the Xbox Series X|S if you decide to upgrade from the Xbox One. Same goes for PS4 and PS5.
Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance Different Versions and Prices
The standard version, which you can pre-order already, costs $39.99. There is also a Deluxe digital version and a Steelbook physical version that come with some extras: the Echoes of the Blood War expansion and a Lich weapon set. This is going to cost you $59.99.
