Cyberpunk 2077 Game Time: The Main Quest
Cyberpunk 2077 is finally here - and this time for real. In the international reviews the new roleplaying game scores mostly well and you probably can't wait to explore the neon-lit streets of Night City.
As befits an RPG from CD Projekt Red, the game should keep you busy all winter without any problems. At least if you complete all side missions, optional quests, mini-games, and storylines. How long does it actually take you to complete the game? Thanks to various outlets, we've got a good impression of just how long Cyberpunk 2077 is.
Several reviews speak of completing the main quest in about 30 hours of play. In combination with various side missions, which are one of the highlights of the game, the playtime should increase significantly, though.
Nevertheless, the developers had already announced in advance that Cyberpunk 2077 would have a significantly shorter playtime when compared to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. After all, Geralt's adventure was simply too long for some players.
Cyberpunk 2077: Replayability
CD Projekt Red QA Lead Łukasz Babiel has spent 175 hours in the world of Cyberpunk 2077, without playing through the RPG. That's certainly good news for all the hardcore fans out there.
However, the title is designed for several playthroughs anyway. After all, at the beginning of Cyberpunk 2077, you are faced with a choice of three backgrounds (the "Lifepaths"), which not only influence the entire background story but the entire course of the game (including the starting area). Add to that the fact that your choices affect the ending and there are suddenly plenty of options.
In the end, the playtime of Cyberpunk 2077 depends on your preferences. If you want to reach the credits as fast as possible and experience the bare minimum the game has to offer you won't need that much time. If you go through every side quest and aim for a completionist playthrough you'll probably be in the hundreds.
