Cyberpunk 2077 was delayed again. For 21 days. Oh boy… Is this a bad or a good sign? Well, it’s definitely confusing seeing as how the game already went gold a couple weeks back. What’s going on here CD Projekt Red?
CDPR released a statement in which they claim that this delay does not speak on the quality of the game. Rather, they want to release a fully polished and ready-to-go game instead of the typical day-1-patch-games that we’ve grown accustomed to. We hope that’s true and, to be fair, the small 21 days delay does support that explanation.
For everybody worried: Mind you that The Witcher 3 was also delayed for 7 months. Cyberpunk 2077 now being delayed again, pushes the release date from what was once April to December. But... wait a minute... that’s an 8 months delay... 8 is more than 7... uhm.... Cyberpunk better than The Witcher 3 confirmed? Seriously though, the game definitely releases with a lot of pressure. The Witcher 3 had it easier on that front, as it was not expected to be the phenomenon that it’s become. Cyberpunk 2077 though is basically already expected to be one of the best games ever. That’s a lot of pressure, which can be a good and a bad thing. After all, diamonds are created under pressure. Let’s hope Cyberpunk turns into a diamond rather than a turd.
Also, in the words of Shigeru Miyamoto:
"A delayed game is eventually good, a rushed game is forever bad."
That guy made Donkey Kong. He knows a thing or two about a game forever being good.
