Epic Games published a website yesterday with plans for a future event called Fortnite Winter Trials. The page was deleted shortly after. What is this all about? What exactly can we expect from the event?

It's not every day that Epic accidentally leaks its own upcoming Fortnite plans, but s*** happens. Fans have noticed that Epic has released a website for an event called Fortnite Winter Trials. Then nixed "choo-choo" the hype train was halted, the website deleted. As the saying goes - Once on the internet, always on the internet. Even though the site wasn't online for long, the players didn't miss the opportunity to take screenshots and publish them on Twitter and the like. We've gathered them together and now have all the details about the tournament, including challenges and rewards, for you.

Hmm if the big rush on the website really led to the errors?

It seems that the upcoming event will include some new Winter skins, including a creepy variant of Crackshot. Players can also earn Winter Trials badges by logging into their Epic account, playing Fortnite for 20 minutes, and supporting a team. Before the website was down, Fortnite leaker HYPEX was able to capture a full video of it:

Among some of the rewards already shown is a new paint job, a new emote, and a motley spray design. We actually thought that the unicorn hype was over...

There are a total of 12 rewards listed on the page. As for the tournament, the Influencer Leaderboard on the Winter Trials page lists streamers and Fortnite personalities like Nick Eh 30, SypherPK, Nate Hill, EMADGG, and 72hrs.

To support one of the teams, you have to click on a thumbs-up button next to the team name on the leaderboard. Players can also vote for the next challenge in the Trials, and options include solo missions like "The Mercenary", "The Bounty Hunter" and "The Pacifist".

As for the dates, the leaked page shows that the individual and team challenges will take place on January 26, 27, 29, and 30. For the group tournaments, the start dates are indicated as January 25, 28, and 30. The website is still offline, so the exact times will probably be revised.

Considering the fact that the site had tons of errors, it's not even entirely certain at the moment if this event will now be completely scrapped by Epic or go online again after a few revisions. I guess we will just have to wait and see.
