CONMEBOL (South American football) has been a very inconsistent feature in FIFA games over the years. Some years we’ve had a few teams, some years we’ve had a bunch of teams. Some years we’ve had whole leagues, some years – none.
FIFA 20 changed all of that by making a move to include South American football in a much more noticeable way. Now we can take on the game in a quest to win the grandest prizes in the region – Copa Sudamericana, Copa Libertadores, and the Recopa.
Of course, the expansion of CONMEBOL’s presence in FIFA cannot happen without the involvement of one of the continent’s premier clubs – Boca Juniors. The most successful Argentinian football club has not let up at all from their glory days in the 2000s, at least on a domestic level.
Boca have kept their grip on the Argentinian Primera División tight by winning it three of the last four seasons. They haven’t been able to replicate that same success throughout the continent, however, and have been relegated to watching fierce rivals River Plate lift the Copa Libertadores twice in the past five years.
Regardless, Boca remain and probably always will remain an integral part of South American football, so there’s no way we weren’t going to honor their presence in FIFA 21 with a little ol’ video on their five best players.
You might recognize some of these names even if you’re unfamiliar with South American football, so there’s content to stick around for in any case.
