Evil Geniuses are one of the most successful North American organizations in current times. Mainly known for being top performers in Dota 2, EG have branched out in other titles over the years and currently hold teams in CS:GO, League of Legends, Rainbow Six Siege, Fortnite, and various fighting games.

Yesterday, it became clear that two of the highest-profile fighting game players will be joining the ranks of Evil Geniuses.

SonicFox

The first one is Dominique "SonicFox" McLean. His reputation exceeds the borders of the fighting game genre and perhaps the gaming industry as a whole. SonicFox is only 22 and he’s already a five-time EVO champion across four different fighting titles. He’s mostly well-known for Mortal Kombat where he still competes today, as Fox recently took the grand title at Final Kombat 2020. Final Kombat was the conclusion of Mortal Kombat 11’s first pro circuit. Some other titles that SonicFox has played over the years are:

  • Street Fighter
  • Tekken
  • Dragon Ball FighterZ
  • Skullgirls
  • Injustice

McLean’s first major organization was Echo Fox where he started to play in April 2017. Only recently, in late February 2020, he left Echo Fox and announced that there would be news soon.

Dekillsage

The second addition is Jon "dekillsage" Coello who also has plenty of experience in fighting games such as:

  • Skullgirls
  • Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite
  • Dragon Ball FighterZ.

Lately, he’s been focused mainly on the latter as he finished in third place at the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour Finals 2019-20. Sonic also competed in the same event but only managed to reach 13-16th place. Similarly, dekillsage was also part of Echo Fox which comes as no surprise as they seem to be close friends with SonicFox. Coello left Echo Fox a bit earlier this year, in mid-January.

Evil Geniuses released an interview with the two players, giving fans a chance to get to know them better and see why they chose to be a part of the team.

The duo joins some familiar faces from the fighting community that were already among the ranks of EG – Ricki "HelloKittyRicki" Ortiz, Christopher "NYChrisG" Gonzalez and Kevin “PPMD” Nanney.
