Winston Duke, one of the stars of Black Panther will suit up as Batman for the newest Batman Unburied series coming to Spotify soon.
You remember Winston Duke, right? M'Baku from Black Panther. Well, the Marvel star is moving over to DC... for a series on Spotify. Yup, you read that right. It's not exactly the DC Cinematic Universe, more like the DC... Podcast Universe? DCPU? Sounds like a police department, but that's what it is. Details below.

Winston Duke Will Play Batman in 'Batman Unburied'
If you didn't know, now you know: Spotify is working on a scripted podcast series, titled Batman Unburied. Now I don't know how a scripted podcast differs from an audiobook, but it definitely sounds cooler. Apparently, the show will focus on the psychology of Batman, rather than... his looks. Yes, yes I had to bring it up: Winston Duke is black and if this were a TV show or a movie, could you imagine the doodoo-storm? I truly wonder if people are going to find a way to complain about this one, but with the internet being the internet... I'm sure they will.
Rounding out the cast is Jason Isaacs from the OA and the 58-year-old will take on the role of Robin.
Jason Isaacs will take on the mantle of Alfred.
Batman Begins Writer David S. Goyer Is Writing Batman Unburied
Yes, you read that right: David S. Goyer, the writer of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight (plus Dark Knight Rises, but that writing was... meh) will write this scripted podcast, which will explore "the darker aspects of Bruce Wayne's psychology." Didn't know that Bruce had lighter aspects to him, but I'll take it.
Batman Unburied is set to release late this year or early next year. If you ask us, the best timing would be alongside the 2022 The Batman reboot, but nobody is asking us, so there's that. Anyway, here's a little tidbit of what the series will be about – if you want a little teaser:
Batman Unburied is a psychological thriller that takes us on a new journey deep into the mind of Bruce Wayne introducing a slew of dark twists and turns with a number of classic Batman Super-Villains. When audiences meet Bruce Wayne, he is a forensic pathologist, working in the bowels of Gotham Hospital and tasked with examining the victims of The Harvester, a gruesome serial killer preying on Gotham's citizens. Not only will the Super-Hero be forced to face his own mental demons, but he will also have to overcome them in order to save the citizens of Gotham as his alter-ego Batman.
