The London Home Series became the venue of Dallas Empire's third victory in this season's Call of Duty League. We go over what happened and how Dallas equaled the Florida Mutineers' win record in CDL 2020.
After failing to make it past the semi-finals in their last two events, Dallas Empire claimed first place this weekend. That makes them, along with the Florida Mutineers, the only team in the Call of Duty League to win three Home Series this season.
Dallas Empire Rule the London Home Series
Dallas Empire dominated the London Home Series and lost only one map over the entire weekend. That loss came in their very first game against Paris Legion - the same squad they defeated 3-0 in the final. The Empire wiped the floor with the New York Subliners and the Florida Mutineers too on the way to the cup.
Paris Legion fought their way back through the lower bracket after that first defeat against Dallas. They ended a few teams' participation in the London Home Series, including the Los Angeles Guerillas, the New York Subliners and the hosts London Royal Ravens.
That set up a rematch with the Empire, but it was one to forget if you are a Legion fan. The champions were dominant and I mean dominant across the map - Hardpoint, Search & Destroy and, how fitting - Domination, all ended in comfortable Dallas victories.
Aftermatch of the London Home Series
As usual, the victory will earn Dallas Empire 50 CDL points and $50,000 in prize money. Paris Legion will take 30 CDL points and $30,000 for second place, while London Royal Ravens and Florida Mutineers will each take 20 CDL points and $10,000 for finishing third and fourth. OpTic Gaming Los Angeles and the New York Subliners score 10 CDL points each for 5-6th. Finally, the Seattle Surge and the Los Angeles Guerillas go home from the Home Series empty-handed.
The current state of the Call of Duty League can be seen here:
Dallas' win takes them to second in the standings, just 10 points behind league leaders Atlanta FaZe. All in all, the top four is going nowhere and it only remains to be seen how these four will distribute the spots between them.
What's Left in Call of Duty League 2020
The Call of Duty League 2020 is nearing its end. The final Home Series of the season will take place this coming weekend, July 24-26, in Toronto.
The hosts Toronto Ultra, league leaders Atlanta FaZe, Dallas Empire, Chicago Huntsmen, Florida Mutineers, OpTic Gaming Los Angeles, Minnesota ROKKR and Seattle Surge will participate in the final tournament. The New York Subliners, London Royal Ravens, Los Angeles Guerillas and Paris Legion have already played their last Home Series games of this season. With all the top 4 teams set to play in the Toronto Home Series, it should be one hell of a season finisher.
