Cyberpunk 2077 will NOT have microtransactions! Rest easy, everybody! Put down the pitchforks. The Cyberpunk 2077 single player game, will be a normal single player game with one purchase only and no further costs or tricks. This was confirmed on CD Projekt Red’s Twitter account.

HOWEVER: Company CEO Adam Kicinski, has confirmed that the multiplayer portion of the game will indeed have microtransactions. Though he promises they will not negatively affect the experience:

“We're never aggressive towards our fans! We treat them fairly and we're friendly. So of course not - we won't be aggressive - but you can expect great things to be bought. The goal is to design monetization in a way that makes people happy to spend money. I'm not trying to be cynical or hide something; it's about creating a feeling of value."

We will see what ultimately happens, but with how fair CD Projekt Red have been with The Witcher 3, we believe that they deserve our trust and the benefit of the doubt. After all, it’s been announced that Cyberpunk 2077 will have free DLC as well.

We eagerly await more news on Cyberpunk 2077, which will release on November 19th for Xbox, PS4 and PC and will get a free next-gen update for the Xbox Series X & S and the PS5.
