ZywOo Wins HLTV Player of The Year Award Back to Back!
Anybody can win the HLTV Player of The Year Award once (ok, no, it's actually very hard), but to win it twice? To win it back to back? Who does that? ZywOo, that's who. Oh, and he's the youngest to ever do it too... Flex.
Team Vitality's CS:GO beast Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut repeats as the undisputed best player in the world. The boy is 19 years young and was already the youngest player ever to be named HLTV Player of the Year last year. Now he repeats and retains the crown. Oh... he's also the only French player to ever win the award and one of only three players to ever win the HLTV Player of The Year Award back to back. How much harder can a flex be?
Unsurprisingly, Team Vitality signed ZywOo to a 5-year extension and it's obvious why: He's a God. Also, he led the team to five tournament finals in 2020, with back to back (this is becoming a theme) BLAST Premier championships and a win at Intel Extreme Masters Beijing.
Oh... ZywOo was also nominated for Best Esport Athlete at The Game Awards, PC Player of The Year and won six HLTV MVPs throughout the year.
Ok, then... what's the legend have to say about all this? Let's see:
“To receive this honour for the second year in a row feels like a dream, especially after such a challenging year adapting to playing online. Playing CS:GO is all I’ve ever wanted to do, and to have this recognition so early on in my career is honestly unbelievable. I’m so grateful to my teammates and Vitality for making me look so good, and I hope to continue making them proud in 2021.”
From all of EarlyGame: Congratulations ZywOo. We don't mind that you make us spell your name with small and capital letters over and over. We really don't mind. ZywOo. We love it.
