With CoD Season 6, two new weapons were introduced to Modern Warfare and Warzone. The AS VAL is a new assault rifle with an extremely high fire rate and here is our setup guide.

What's so Special About the AS VAL?

As usual, two new weapons came into play in CoD Season 6 and can be unlocked via the Battle Pass. The new AS VAL assault rifle and the new SP-R 208 DMR were both bugged until recently, so we decided to wait with our setup guides.

The AS VAL practically offered a free wallhack before the fix. With the 10-shot magazine, which turns the weapon semi-automatic, players could shoot across the map through several walls without the bullets losing any damage. Understandably, this caused a lot of resentment in the community but has been fixed in the meantime. Nevertheless, the AS VAL is by no means negligible.

The AS VAL is unlocked at Level 31 of the Battle Pass and is the 13th assault rifle in Modern Warfare and Warzone. The special thing about the weapon, apart from the bug that has been fixed, is the built-in suppressor and the incredibly high fire rate of 923 RPM, which is pretty impressive even compared to most submachine guns.

However, the high rate of fire comes at the expense of control and precision, and the magazine is empty pretty much all the time. But if you're looking for a weapon with high damage (3 hits on the upper body) and you want to compete with MPs in close combat, you should definitely consider trying the AS VAL.

AS VAL Setup

Since the Wallhack bug is fixed, it makes little sense to play the weapon semi-automatically – better to use the FAL or SKS instead. That´s why we are going to concentrate on a fully automatic setup today.

With this setup, you are well prepared for multiplayer fights on short and medium distances and you can keep up even on long distances if you manage to control the recoil:

As usual, we try to compensate the disadvantages of the gun as much as possible and therefore recommend the following attachments:

  • Barrel: VLK 200mm Osa
  • Stock: VLK Strelok
  • Underbarrel: Commando Foregrip
  • Magazine: 30 Round Mags
  • Rear Grip: Stippled Grip Tape

Thanks to the built-in silencer we can finally do without the monolith suppressor which gives us another free slot for an attachment. The Osa barrel increases range and bullet velocity while the Strelok stock reduces recoil and increases aiming stability. Combined with the Commando Foregrip, the high recoil of the gun can be controlled more easily and you can still hit a target at medium or long distances.

To counter the constantly empty magazine and the need to reload too often, we highly recommend the larger 30 Round Mags. Finally, the Stippled Grip Tape offers faster ADS and faster sprint-to-fire speed which helps keep up with the very mobile SMGs, especially for fast run-and-gun gameplay on smaller maps.

Of course, we also have a setup guide for the SP-R 208 which is a perfect fit for completing an AS VAL loadout:

Have you already unlocked the AS VAL? What do you think of the assault rifle with the monstrous fire rate?
