The AK74u is a great little run–and–gun weapon in Warzone, and one of the strongest choices to take alongside a Sniper or Marksman Rifle. With all the balance changes in Warzone Season 3: Reloaded, the AK74u has risen into the meta alongside the LC10 and the  MAC–10. So, keep reading for our guide on the best setup and loadout for the AK74u

The AK74u has always been a decent weapon, especially in the multiplayer, but as with so many submachine guns, it had a harder time finding its place in Warzone. With the right attachments, though, the AK74u can be set up to give enough consistency over range to act as your main weapon on the move, while you can keep something for longer distances in your secondary slot.

What Attachments Should You Take On The AK74u

  • Muzzle: Gru Suppressor
  • Barrel: 9.3" VDV Reinforced
  • Stock: KGB Skeletal
  • Underbarrel: Spetznaz Speedgrip
  • Ammunition: Bakelite 60 Rnd Mag

The suppressor and extended magazine are going to be an obvious pick here, every weapon in Warzone should be setup with the largest magazine attachment available, and every weapon should be suppressed. Like the monolithic from Modern Warfare, this suppressor also increases range.

The ironsights on an AK74u are good enough to use, but if you want proper optics, then you could drop the Speedgrip. The Skeletal stock and the Speedgrip help improve handling speed, but the barrel is more important - it gives a fantastic range increase, essential for any submachine gun in Warzone.

What Loadout Should You Take With The AK74u

The AK74u is a great weapon to run as your main with a long-range option on your back; that's why we've set it up specifically for mid-range consistency in the above attachment guide. So, here's what a full loadout would look like:

  • Primary Weapon: AK74u (with the attachments described above)
  • Secondary Weapon: Your preferred Sniper or Marksman Rifle
  • Perk 1: E.O.D.
  • Perk 2: Overkill
  • Perk 3: Amped
  • Lethal: Claymore
  • Tactical: Heartbeat Sensor

With E.O.D. you'll get a general buff against explosive damage, and Overkill will let you take both primary weapons. Amped is essential as it allows for faster weapon switching, exactly what a loadout like this needs. The Claymore's can cover the doors while you snipe from a rooftop, not because they are expected to make kills, but so they can act as an early alarm system. The Heartbeat Sensor is just a must-pick for Warzone, giving you that essential intel on the enemy.

Are you going to give the AK74u a go? It's definitely worth the levelling, and it might even overtake the LC10 - which is surely due for a nerf.
