With Season 1 in full swing, a new map may be coming to Call of Duty: Warzone. Rumors have it that a Ural Mountains map could be coming in early 2021, an option that would revitalize Warzone for those players who are a bit bored of Verdansk.
With Verdansk starting to run out of steam, and Rebirth Island not being for everyone, a new map could put steam back into the battle-royale juggernaut. Ural Mountains is, at least in our opinion, the perfect choice fresh off the back of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
With all the rumors we have read, we thought it would be a good idea to break everything down. It may be purely conjecture, but it could be for real. If it is for real, then we can’t bloody wait until 2021!

So, What in Carnation Is All This About?
Rebirth Island launched with Season 1 back on December 16, and we loved it! The thing was, though…that opinion was not so unanimous. Some players were not entirely happy with the higher-octane map, suited-up for fast-paced encounters that Warzone players were not used to in their beloved battle royale.
Thus, the focus shifted onto greener pastures (at least for those players), a new map for Warzone which kept what we all loved about Verdansk, but with new flavor. Call of Duty: Warzone is one of the most popular CoD games ever, with many still in love with it, but perhaps it is time for something new…that isn’t Rebirth Island!
The rumor revolves around two new maps in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War – Ruka and Alpine – which are the two maps featured in Cold War’s Fireteam: Dirty Bomb mode. They are larger maps, fit for 40 players and… DRUMROLL… are both in the Ural Mountains!

The Ural Mountains are a Russian mountain range that stretches from the coast of the Arctic, down through western Russia and into the north of Kazakhstan. But enough of the geography lesson, these two maps are pretty great and the source of much speculation in Warzone!
These suspicions were aroused when players found that both maps started with the letters ‘wz’ in the game’s code. It also makes a lot of sense – Season 1 imported a bunch of Cold War content into Warzone, and for a hybrid map to now appear would not be unexpected.
That Sounds Awesome, When Do You Think It’ll Come Out?
Woah there, cowboy, slow your horse! Keep your trousers on! Nothing is confirmed, this is purely a rumor and could even not happen at all. If it does, we’ll jump for joy, but if not…try not to be disappointed, okay?
If it was to come out, though, we suspect it will probably coincide with Warzone’s anniversary in March. With the clusterf**k of 2020 almost out of the way, perhaps this is just one more reason to look forward to 2021!
