Call of Duty: Vanguard launches with a ton of classic WWII guns. But for every gun, we have an astonishing amount of attachments to choose from, and we can use ten at once. So, where do you even begin? What attachments do you need? Don't worry, we'll give you all the answers in our Vanguard weapon setup guides. And today: the MP40.
The MP40 has alwasy been dominant in the games in which it's appeared. It's the MP5 of WWII games in many ways. In World at War especially this weapon was king. And it looks like we're heading back to that era.
Now this is an SMG, but thats not a problem for multiplayer, the map sizes force you to fight within those shorter ranges anyway. Where the MP40 excels is with it's excellent TTK and low-recoil. Especially when compared to the M1928, we found the MP40 a pleasure to use.
If you need any more reason to get leveling the MP40, just check out our tier ranking of every weapon in Vanguard for an idea of how well the MP40 places - it beats a lot of alternatives.
The MP40 Attachment Setup
- Muzzle: F8 Stabilizer
- Barrel: Krausnick 317MM 04B
- Optic: Slate Reflector
- Stock: VDD 34M
- Underbarrel: M1941 Handstop
- Magazine: 9MM 60 Round Drum
- Ammo Type: Hollow Point
- Rear Grip: Granular Grip
- Proficiency: Vital
- Kit: Quick
The MP40 can only be pushed to about 30-40m, so you need to choose your engagements wisely on the larger maps like Red Star. But anything shorter than that range, and this MP40 should absolutely dominate.

The Equipment & Perks On An MP40 Loadout
From what we've played so far, the meta loadout will look something like this:
- Secondary Weapon: Panzerschreck
- Lethal: Thermite
- Tactical: Stuns
- Perk 1: Ghost
- Perk 2: Radar
- Perk 3: Demolition
- Field Upgrade: Armour Plates
The above will almost certainly be the multiplayer meta for an MP40 loadout unless they make serious balance changes. The Armour Plates in particular are in need of a nerf, but whether one comes, we'll have to wait and see.
