CoD Black Ops Cold War: Fireteam Map Guides
Playing the Cold War Fireteam Maps can be quite overwhelming at first when you don’t know the layout yet. We’ll share with you the most important things to know about both the Alpine and the Ruka Map.
Fireteam is a new mode that was first introduced in CoD Black Ops Cold War and while it is essentially another multiplayer, the difference is the size of the map and teams.
You'll be 40 players in total, ten teams split into four players each, fighting for survival, again and again, like how you do in the other multiplayer modes that you're already used to. Many of you will remember Blackout from CoD Black Ops 4 Battle Royale and will be reminded of it, while Fireteam also has some elements of Warzone, with a similar loot system, armor plates and parachutes.
The thing that can be the confusing part in all of this, is the maps. Because they are freaking huge. So, here are some things you need to know about both maps and some tactics on how to handle them:
Alpine is a map covered in snow - as the name might suggest - and is a playground for all you Snipers.
To cover all the buildings on this map would take too long - and quite frankly, is unnecessary. Just know that you will find cover if you need it and if you’d rather be out in the woods, you can do that too.
You can think of the map as one giant slope and all slopes lead to.. where? The bottom, of course. Especially when unfamiliar, a lot of players tend to just go down the hill, meaning, chances are good that you will encounter a lot of enemies down there, where we marked a red circle.
If you want to avoid the masses and prefer the sneaky approach, stay in the woods, maybe enter one of the many cabins and huts that are splattered around the map, they will provide you with the necessary cover and will help you reel in some good sneaky kills.
Ruka is a lot less cold than Alpine, but just as dangerous, especially if you don't know what you're doing.
This map gives the player a choice, do you want to tread through the mud in the forest, or are you opting for the civilized side of the map? It's up to you.
If you'd rather take your chances and run through the forest, the upper circle is where you want to be. Any type of weapon will serve you well here, just maybe not a grenade launcher. Use your MP5, perhaps?
The lower circle is your jam, if you prefer close-quarter combat or just don't like what kind of surprises could be hiding in the forest. Throw your grenades into any of these buildings first, then rush in and take out an enemy if your grenade hasn't done that already. Your team will thank you.
We know how hard first playing on these maps can be, don't be too hard on yourself if you need some time to get used to them. Here at EarlyGame, we'll provide with all of the important map guides that you need for BOCW, like our Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Multiplayer Map Guide
