Season 1 of Black Ops Cold War and Warzone is coming to an end. What can we expect in Season 2? The latest leaks and rumors stem from a mysterious storm looming over Verdansk.
Black Ops Cold War Season 1 brought a bunch of new weapons to Warzone, two of which - the DMR and MAC-10, went meta straight away. Season 1 is nearing its end though, so it's high time to take a look at what might be in store for us in Season 2.
Update February 17th:
Finally an offical trailer for Season 2 was released. It confirms some of the leaks and other new content.
The trailer shows three new operators:
As usual, one of these operators will probably be available with the Battle Pass, while the others will come as part of bundles during the season.
Four new weapons were also shown in the trailer:
- AI-LC10 SMG
Mysterious Storm Over Verdansk
Recently, more and more Warzone players have been encountering a mysterious storm over Verdansk. In this Reddit post you can see the big thundercloud from which some lightning flashes down on the map:
Since there are actually no weather effects in Warzone, players are now puzzling over whether the storm could be a teaser for Season 2. Since not all players see this phenomenon in their matches, it could also simply be a glitch that mistakenly shows content that was implemented too early. In our opinion, the most logical conclusion is that the storm could be an in-game event that will bring changes during Warzone Season 2.
What Is Coming in Warzone Season 2?
Yes, that's right, we can probably look forward to another map in Warzone in Season 2. Besides Verdansk, only Rebirth Island is available so far, which came into the game with Season 1. However, there has been the assumption for a long time that a new map in the Ural Mountains could come to Warzone. What is the basis for this assumption? Quite simply, with the map Sanatorium added in Black Ops Cold War Season 1 and the two old Fireteam maps Ruka and Alpine, there are now three large maps set in the Ural Mountains. Combine these maps and you could create a huge new Battle Royale map for Warzone in no time.
Zombies in Warzone
In addition to the storm mentioned at the beginning, strange machines keep appearing in Warzone. The strange computer-like machines are also called Zombie Trials Machine in the community.

Assuming that a zombie related game mode will be replacing #Warzone rumble soon.
They most likely needed to test some of the assets before launching it, which is why machines continue appearing in Verdansk! pic.twitter.com/3azHLsBlwb
Since they appear primarily in the recently added Rumble mode, players suspect that the machines could be a teaser and possibly a test for an upcoming zombie mode in Warzone. Since Black Ops Cold War has its own zombie mode and there was already a zombie mode in Warzone for Halloween 2020 with The Haunting of Verdansk, this assumption is not that far-fetched.
What would a new season be without new weapons? Warzone Season 2 will deliver new firearms and we've seen leaks mention several in particular.

AI-LC10 and CX-9/Scorpion SMGs
The Scorpion is already playable in the Survival mode of Modern Warfare and can also be leveled up there.

The Sykov is also already in the survival mode of Modern Warfare. Since it can be fired fully automatically and the magazine can be upgraded to 80 rounds, it is already considered OP.
I was able to get access to the new unreleased Sykov blueprint using weapon drops in Plunder from CODWarzone
The new LMG is also already playable in Survival mode.
Melee weapons are also getting fair treatment. Leaker TailsDoll711 talks about a machete and a so-called e-tool.
Further leaks give us hope for at least two new operators. A glitch back in December showed us that we could soon expect Richtofen, known from Zombies mode. Since he is not yet in the game, Season 2 would be the perfect time for his introduction.

Also known from Zombies mode is Samantha Maxis, who has to be rescued by players in the new Firebase Z Easter egg. Leaks suggest that she could also make her way into the game in Season 2 as part of a bundle.

Warzone Season 2 Release Date
Until now we were going by the expiry date of the current Battle Pass but the new Season 2 trailer gave us an exact date. The release date of Warzone Season 2 will be February 25. Just a little more and the wait will be over.
