Call of Duty League 2021 kicked off last week with the Atlanta FaZe Home Series. The first event of the season ended tonight and both the hosts Atlanta FaZe and newcomers LA Thieves cleaned up the opposition.

The Call of Duty League 2021 has finally kicked off! Last weekend, CDL teams gave us some exciting matches at the Atlanta FaZe Home Series with some surprises.

LA Thieves and Atlanta FaZe Destroy Call of Duty League

The LA Thieves were considered a big surprise this weekend. Taking over a Call of Duty League spot from OpTic Gaming Los Angeles, they are part of the CDL for the first time this year and proved straight away that they are one to watch out for. They opened the Atlanta FaZe Home Series with a dominant 3-1 win against Minnesota ROKKR. A Search & Destroy loss to Miami would end up being their only one throughout the Series. They even won the series against New York Subliners on 3-0, although the individual matches were very close.

Host Atlanta FaZe also showed why they are favourites every year. They won their first match against LA Guerrillas 3-0. It was a little more difficult when they met OpTic Chicago though. The team around CoD legend Scump was considered the favourite and stretched the series over the full five matches but lost in the decider. What was particularly surprising was how easily Atlanta FaZe took both Search & Destroy rounds - 6:0; 6:1. Even OpTic's Sender had to admit that the two S&D matches were a letdown.

CDL 2020 champion Dallas Empire could only secure a single win against Seattle Surge. They lost to Minnesota ROKKR but even that defeat could not diverge attention from newcomer Huke. The man looked formidable and seems set for a bright future in the Call of Duty League.
