Support roles are often neglected by less–experienced teams in Warzone. But if you've got someone in the squad with good game sense, it's worth them running a dedicated support loadout. We've put together the optimized setup for a support build.
If you're lucky enough to have a squad in Trios or Quads, then you're already going into Verdansk with a huge advantage. Or so you thought... When you don't make plans, and you drop in on random locations, you're setting yourself up for a mediocre game. Instead, think and plan ahead as a team; know who the talented snipers are, know who has the reflexes quick enough to play CQC, and let those players play those roles. That's why you need to develop the best support loadout in Warzone, it's one of the most important – but neglected – roles.
Best Warzone Support Loadout: What Primary Weapon Is Best For A Support Role?
The best primary weapon for a support player is an LMG, especially one that's good at consistent supporting firepower. While some LMGs will be better in other environments, in Verdansk the PKM is the best LMG for a support role.
It has an unbelievable 200 round magazine, and even with an impressive 750 RPM, that means you can support your teammates with constant fire for sixteen seconds. That is phenomenal for Warzone. It means that you can keep enemies prone behind rocks and debris long enough for the team to grab loadout's, capture Recons, or run around for flanks. While the reload speed and movement penalty can feel quite punishing at first, the damage profile more than makes up for it. Even at the longest distances, the PKM will down someone in 6–9 shots.
Best Warzone Support Loadout: What is the Best Setup for the PKM?
- Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
- Laser: Tac Laser
- Optic: VLK 3.0x Optic
- Ammunition: 200 Round Belt
- Underbarrel: Snatch Grip
We'll take the Monolithic Suppressor and the maximum magazine available, because this is Warzone (If you're a new player here's a tip: take the Monolithic Suppressor and the maximum magazine size on any weapon you can). The laser should offset the sluggishness of this beast just enough, and the snatch grip will keep those follow–up shots on target with its benefits to recoil control. In this best Warzone Support Loadout, the VLK can be swapped out for an optic of your choice, but don't think you can get away with using the iron sights on this puppy – nowhere near good enough, especially for longer-range use.
While you're here, check out some of our other guides to assemble a strong squad and start getting wins. We've already covered one loadout that a squadmate can use while you play support: the sniper, and we will continue to do more in this series. We've also covered a lot of the fundamentals, like why you need to start using Contextual Tap, and how to parachute properly.
Best Warzone Support Loadout: What Secondary Weapon Is Best For A Support Role?
The best secondary for a Warzone support is the Amped and the MP5. Imagine this: you're holding down the open plains of Verdansk, the PKM churning out rounds at 750 a minute, when suddenly – disaster; "Behind, behind!" Another team heard the shots and now they're trying to jump you, what can you do? Freeze frame. The PKM is too slow for CQC but your team needs to deal with the immediate threat. That's where Amped and the MP5 come in.
Sure, we could've sacrificed Overkill for Ghost, and tried to rely on the PKM alone, but as a support player you won't be needing the Ghost as much as other players - you'll already be drawing attention to yourself with LMG fire anyway, and that's okay. Instead, by taking the MP5, we've given ourselves one of the quickest ADS weapons in the game, with a fantastic TTK. Here's the attachment setup for that MP5:
Best Warzone Support Loadout: What is the Best Setup for the MP5?
- Barrel: FSS Mini
- Laser: Tac Laser
- Stock: FTAC Collapsable
- Ammunition: 45 Round Mags
- Perk: Sleight of Hand
We've sacrificed range in this build because the PKM can handle that, the MP5 is there as a last resort, so it should only be used for close-quarters encounters. With this in mind, we've maxed it out for rapid handling.
Best Warzone Support Loadout: What Perks And Equipment Should A Support Player Take
- Lethal: Thermite
- Tactical: Gas Grenade
- Perk 1: E.O.D.
- Perk 2: Overkill
- Perk 3: Amped
We've already discussed why Overkill is worth it, and Amped will make swapping between those two primary weapons quicker. E.O.D. is the go-to perk in that first slot, unless you want to couple Cold–Blooded with Ghost.
Now for equipment. Thermite is a good choice because as a support player vehicles are your responsibility to deal with. The Gas Grenade is coming instead of a Heartbeat Sensor, because someone else on your team should be using it. Ideally, the dedicated run–and–gun CQC player, the one who needs to go hunting when your team pushes in, will take the Sensor, but the support player gets more use from Gas. With gas, you can disrupt campers and force them to move while holding their location in your sights. That's the key to being the best Warzone support!
