EA have now confirmed an open beta for Battlefield 2042; an opportunity for fans to try the much–anticipated shooter ahead of its official release date. Players around the world are naturally wondering: how can you apply for the Battlefield 2042 open beta? Well, we've got all the details on how you can join the beta right here.
Battlefield 2042 is the darling of the shooter community right now, especially with such disappointing news leaking about this year's Call of Duty: WW2 Vanguard. By comparison to that Battlefield is looking far more promising with its massive maps, the new specialist class system, and even talk of a 'Survival Mode'. You can imagine the excitement so many have to actually try Battlefield 2042, so news of open beta was going to be significant, albeit predictable.
How Can You Apply For The Battlefield 2042 Open Beta?
So far the only way of joining the open beta we are aware of is by pre-ordering the game. You are given access to the beta no matter which edition you buy though. And in a comparison of the different Battlefield 2042 versions available, we came to the conclusion that the Standard edition gave the most value for the majority of players anyhow. So it's not that you need to pay out for the Gold or Ultimate editions to access the open beta.
If that's unreasonable to you, as perhaps it should be, then you could try and apply as an alpha playtester for EA, but you have to be lucky enough for them to pick you. Here are the details on joining EA as an alpha playtester.

When Is The Battlefield 2042 Open Beta?
There's been no official word yet on when the beta is coming, but BF1's beta began on August 31, 2016 (51 days before release) and BFV's beta began on September 4, 2018 (66 days before release) – both were about four days long. So if we had to guess at this point, based on Battlefield 2042's release date (October 22) we would suppose that the open beta begins on September 1.
We'll update this article as soon as EA reveal an official date, until then you'll need to decide for yourselves whether you support this practice of pre-ordering to access betas. And whether it's worthwhile for you.
