Links to the complete download of Battlefield 2042's soundtrack have leaked. But Hildur Guðnadóttir's masterpiece isn't due for release for quite a few weeks.

A good soundtrack in a shooter is key. It doesn't need to have the range of an RPG score but it does need to get you sufficiently pumped, and sufficiently feeling badass.

.Just remember way back when to the early 200s and the launch of Halo. The soundtrack was exceptional, and it was so significant in the game's overall immersion. Master Chief became the iconic legend he was thanks to tracks like Mjolnir.

Battlefield has famously produced some great music themselves, so on this front, we were always quietly confident. But after hearing the first few songs on this album, we have to confess it's gone way beyond our expectations. Hildur Guðnadóttir is pushing Battlefield's music in an astonishingly cinematic and heart-racing direction.

We think you'll like it too, so we've got some good news - you can get a taste for yourselves thanks to a very naughty leaker...

Battlefield 2042's Soundtrack Leak

Links to the complete download of Battlefield 2042's soundtrack have been spread across Twitter today (September 9 at the time of writing). Many users re-uploaded clips of the songs but EA was quick to copyright strike the media.

The reaction to the album seemed very positive, the general consensus being that the soundtrack is more intense than usual. Most agreed with Tom Henderson's feelings:

Of course, some complained about the new direction, but that's always to be expected.

When Is Battlefield 2042's Soundtrack Officially Released?

Battlefield 2042's soundtrack will be officially released on September 22, 2021, and it's available for pre-order already. Hildur Guðnadóttir has pushed the music in a new direction, and we think a good one. But you'll probably prefer to wait and enjoy it in all its glory than listen to the leaked version - as we said, it's a poorly compressed file.
