On Steam
Apex Legends Is Now More Popular Than GTA V

Respawn Entertainment's battle royale shooter now has more concurrent players than Rockstar's GTA V... on Steam. Apex Legends launched on Steam just a few months back and it's already topping the charts!
Didn't expect that did you? We did! It was only a matter of time before Apex Legends exploded in popularity. Many players requested a launch of the game on Steam and it finally happened in early November 2020. And oh boy was it worth it.
Apex Legends in the top 5 on Steam
Currently, Apex Legends is comfortably sitting in 5th place on the most-played games on Steam with a lead of over 50% when compared to Rockstar's GTA V.

If it wasn't for Valheim, Apex will probably be even higher! The game already broke its Steam concurrent players record and that was over a month ago. Now it's even better.

If you haven't played Apex Legends yet you're probably wondering - what caused it to get there? Well, there are a couple of reasons:
- The game just launched the brand-new season Mayhem which added a lot of new content
- It's also the game's 2-year anniversary which is celebrated with a special in-game collection event
Imagine that, in addition to all the new content, EA/Respawn Entertainment are giving players free stuff! The collection event is set to conclude tomorrow, March 2, after it already got extended by a week due to connectivity issues. No wonder the EA servers were having trouble with that many new players!
But for real this time, this is your last weekend to party hard and celebrate two years of Apex with the Anniversary Collection Event before it ends March 2. pic.twitter.com/rt06tXMkEE

But wait that's not all! Apex Legends is always trying to keep things fresh and the player base engaged. It won't be long before we see the announcement of another event. We already saw some hints of a Town Takeover (a small part of the map gets a rework to reflect one of the legends) for Caustic. We had the chance to talk to the dev team in some of our interviews and they left us with the impression that the entire Season 8 will be more celebratory than any other we've seen before.
