The PvE hunt begins
Apex Legends The First Piece quest
Apex Legends Season 5’s PvE has officially kicked off with The First Piece. It will bring players a step closer to resolving the main saga – The Broken Ghost.
Season 5 of Apex Legends was quite anticipated but it came with its fair share of bugs. For the first time ever players now have the chance to team up and play against the AI instead of regular PvP/Battle Royale. The first piece is the first quest part of The Broken Ghost chain. Sadly server outages and bugs plagued the PvE event as players also had connectivity issues. The latter were resolved with one of the latest updates.
The Broken Ghost questline will drop a different quest every week and this will continue throughout the rest of the season. In order to start the initial quest, you’ll need to find treasure packs and collect the “Legendary First Piece”. There’s still time to complete the first quest of the season as the next one is scheduled to release on May 26. Tom Casiello from Respawn explains what the Broken Ghost is all about:
Caught between the Apex Games and Hammond Robotics, Loba is spinning a web of lies and deceit in her personal quest for vengeance… but how far is she willing to go? How does the Broken Ghost fit into her plans for Revenant? And what happens when one Legend stumbles upon the truth? See a side of the Legends’ lives you’ve never seen before... outside of the Games! Alliances will be formed, friendships will be tested, vendettas will be born, and when the dust settles, nothing will be the same again in a mystery that has far-reaching consequences for them all.
The First Piece quest is basically a survival mission. Once started, players will go solo or team up in a group. If you decide to go alone you'll get a couple of automatic respawns in case you get knocked down. There are only two legends you can’t play here and they’re Loba and Revenant as they’re part of the storyline. Players will drop at the entrance of the Artillery Tunnel with a Mozambique, a P2020, healing items and ammo. With 8 minutes on the clock to complete the run, there’ll be plenty of time to survive the onslaught of prowlers. There’s a stationary defense element as players will have to defend a small harvester while it digs up an artifact. If you succeed you’ll be rewarded with the next part of the quest, a Sapphire Loot Tick charm and the piece of the artifact.
We can only guess that each week the new quest will award players with different weapon charms and allow them to continue further into the chain. Once The Broken Ghost is resolved we might see a new quest line pop up. PvE is something completely new to Apex Legends but it’s certainly welcome as it’s a breath of fresh air from the usual 100% PvP focus. In case you missed the prologue it's always available and you can view it in-game.
